From The Edge is a long-form musical album at the heart of the Dover Unlocked project, conceived by Kent-based composers Richard Bundy and Anna Phoebe to subvert and reimagine the narrative of the UK coastal border town. By performing and recording inside hidden, historic spaces—including the Napoleonic-era Grand Shaft, St Edmund’s Chapel, the Maison Dieu, and Fort Burgoyne—the project uses site-specific acoustics to let overlooked history be heard again. The music seamlessly blends acoustic and electronic textures, weaving Phoebe’s cinematic violin and Bundy’s expressive piano with the Sacconi Quartet, drums by Andy Treacey (Faithless) Guitars (Dom Brown - Duran Duran) Dj Production (DJ Tigerstyle), uptempo synths, and bleeding ambient sounds from the nearby A20 road. Both creators bring extensive expertise to the project: Bundy is an accomplished composer and former global touring musical director, while Phoebe is an acclaimed experimental violinist, music producer and BBC Radio 4 broadcaster. Ultimately, Dover Unlocked transcends a standard live performance or album release, functioning as an immersive, time-spanning exploration that unlocks the hidden identity of the town itself.
